{"id":512168,"date":"2026-01-13T02:19:12","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T02:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/512168\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T02:19:12","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T02:19:12","slug":"exclusive-carol-burnett-addresses-her-palm-royale-fate-after-season-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/512168\/","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive | Carol Burnett addresses her \u2018Palm Royale\u2019 fate after Season 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carol Burnett is addressing the future of \u201cPalm Royale\u201d ahead of its Season 2 finale.<\/p>\n<p>The comedy legend, who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/23\/entertainment\/why-carol-burnett-wanted-to-end-sketch-show-retirement-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stars as Norma Dellacorte<\/a> in the hit Apple TV series, has revealed that she \u201cdoesn\u2019t know\u201d whether the show will continue after the current season concludes on Jan. 14.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems like a lot of the stories were wrapped up in this final\u00a0season,\u201d Burnett, 92, exclusively told The Post. \u201cThey\u2019d have to, I think, create new characters, because a lot of the people who are in it are doing other things now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carol Burnett during a \u201cPalm Royale\u201d event at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena, California, on Feb. 5, 2024. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Carol Burnett as Norma Dellacorte during Season 2 of \u201cPalm Royale.\u201d AP<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/12\/entertainment\/carol-burnetts-palm-royale-season-2-request-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Created by Abe Sylvia<\/a> and loosely based on Juliet McDaniel\u2019s 2018 novel \u201cMr. &amp; Mrs. American Pie,\u201d \u201cPalm Royale\u201d follows social-climbing outsider Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she fights to break into the high society of the elite and exclusive Palm Royale country club in 1969 Palm Beach, Fla.<\/p>\n<p>With a supporting cast rounded out by Burnett, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb and Ricky Martin, the show has been nominated for more than 10 Emmy Awards and several additional accolades \u2013 including Wiig for a 2026 Actor Award.<\/p>\n<p>Although Burnett\u2019s character was in a coma for a large portion of Season 1, she took on a much more prominent role <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/11\/entertainment\/how-to-watch-palm-royale-season-2-for-free-time-and-cast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">when the latest season kicked off<\/a> on Nov. 12.<\/p>\n<p>Carol Burnett attends the premiere of Apple TV\u2019s \u201cPluribus\u201d at the DGA Theater Complex on Nov. 4, 2025. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Carol Burnett as Norma Dellacorte in \u201cPalm Royale.\u201d Apple TV<\/p>\n<p>Still, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/09\/entertainment\/carol-burnett-reflects-on-her-70-year-legacy-absolute-joy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cCarol Burnett Show\u201d alum<\/a> was hesitant to say whether she\u2019d return as Norma should \u201cPalm Royale\u201d continue. So far, Apple TV has not renewed the series for Season 3.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt would depend, because I have other projects that I\u2019m interested in behind the scenes,\u201d Burnett told The Post. \u201cSo it kind of depends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I do love Abe Sylvia, who created it,\u201d she added. \u201cHe\u2019s a delight to work with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abe Sylvia during the 76th Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater on Sept. 15, 2024. Kevin Mazur\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Laura Dern and Kristen Wiig during Season 2 of \u201cPalm Royale.\u201d Apple TV<\/p>\n<p>Wiig and Martin, meanwhile, teased the future of \u201cPalm Royale\u201d during a recent chat with <a href=\"https:\/\/collider.com\/palm-royale-season-2-episode-9-explained-kristen-wiig-ricky-martin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collider<\/a> in anticipation of the show\u2019s Season 2 finale.<\/p>\n<p>Although the pair, like Burnett, acknowledged that they don\u2019t know what\u2019s in store, they both hope that a third season happens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have the need to say I hope we have Season 3 so we can just really show off,\u201d Martin, who stars as Robert Diaz, laughed. \u201cDid I just say that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, I can\u2019t even speculate because our writers and Abe Sylvia, the captain of our ship, always just have these ideas that I would never even think of,\u201d Wiig chimed in. \u201cI\u2019ve heard nothing about it. Apple TV+ via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Sylvia himself suggested a possible third season wasn\u2019t completely off the table \u2013 especially after developing such a close relationship with the cast while shooting Seasons 1 and 2.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was so excited to be able to come back to these characters,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=38141913&amp;action=edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told The Post<\/a> ahead of Season 2\u2019s premiere. \u201cNow that I know all of the actors personally, these are all the places that I know they can go as artists, and I wanted to make sure with everybody that we went there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sylvia also <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=38141913&amp;action=edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">couldn\u2019t help but praise Burnett<\/a> for her hysterical performance as Norma.<\/p>\n<p>Abe Sylvia opened up about the future of \u201cPalm Royale\u201d and Carol Burnett\u2019s role as Norma ahead of the show\u2019s Season 2 premiere on Nov. 12, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would cast Carol Burnett as anything, honestly,\u201d he shared in November. \u201cI don\u2019t know if I\u2019ve ever seen anybody get a laugh with just a little twitch of the face, lying still. Penske Media via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Carol Burnett as Norma Dellacorte in \u201cPalm Royale.\u201d Apple TV<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember when they asked me to do it about two years ago,\u201d Burnett <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/09\/entertainment\/carol-burnett-reflects-on-her-70-year-legacy-absolute-joy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told The Post.<\/a> \u201c[Sylvia] called me and said we\u2019d love you to be one of the characters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, \u2018Who\u2019s in it?\u2019 And they said, Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Allison Janney,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI said, \u2018Don\u2019t go any further. I\u2019ll be on. I don\u2019t care what you want me to do.
