{"id":512675,"date":"2026-01-13T07:56:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T07:56:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/512675\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T07:56:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T07:56:11","slug":"free-flu-and-shingles-vaccines-energy-bill-assistance-offered-at-jea-senior-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/512675\/","title":{"rendered":"Free flu and shingles vaccines, energy bill assistance offered at JEA senior event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>JACKSONVILLE, Fla. <\/strong> \u2013 JEA will focus on the senior community on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at JEA Headquarters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">With flu rates rising, JEA is partnering with the Duval County Health Department to offer free flu and shingles vaccines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><b>MORE: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2025\/12\/30\/jacksonville-braces-for-cold-snap-energy-saving-tips-from-jea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2025\/12\/30\/jacksonville-braces-for-cold-snap-energy-saving-tips-from-jea\/\">Jacksonville braces for cold snap; energy-saving tips from JEA<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Local organizations will join JEA Customer Care agents at the event, including the City of Jacksonville Community Outreach, Catholic Charities, Jewish Family &amp; Community Services, and United Way\u2019s 211.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">These partners have distributed a total of $94,000 in financial assistance to more than 168 seniors throughout 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Participants can also learn about JEA programs that help seniors save on energy bills and receive financial assistance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">There is additional possible help available through United Way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Joe Vasquez, JEA public information officer, said, \u201cSenior day allows them all to meet in one area to be able to get those resources and information that could be beneficial for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">United Way representatives explained, \u201cIf individuals call 211, there\u2019s an opportunity after they get screened that they can get some financial assistance if they are in a hard pinch. If they need a little assistance on their utility bill, there is an opportunity there as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The event is on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at JEA Headquarters, 225 N. Pearl St., Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Parking is free.
