{"id":512708,"date":"2026-01-13T08:13:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T08:13:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/512708\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T08:13:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T08:13:14","slug":"ex-deputy-fire-chief-for-la-habra-heights-who-posed-as-officer-gets-sentenced-whittier-daily-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/512708\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-deputy fire chief for La Habra Heights who posed as officer gets sentenced \u2013 Whittier Daily News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The case against a former La Habra Heights deputy fire chief who impersonated an officer when he pulled over a colleague in Whittier in 2021 ended Monday, Jan. 12.<\/p>\n<p>Timothy Michael Peel, 38, had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whittierdailynews.com\/2025\/01\/17\/ex-la-habra-heights-deputy-fire-chief-accused-of-posing-as-officer-takes-plea-deal\/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=socialflow&amp;utm_source=facebook.com&amp;utm_content=fb-whittierdailynews&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawPSG99leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETFEV2M0VXN1aUFDRGZVb05Nc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHpzd_sPQUkmuw4u700C2F2-Hpk5flbNzrOO-DgKwa98CCe4IM0eRMexh1LU9_aem_O1tCLY1RoNtdCj7DUPOTOg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pleaded no contest<\/a> on Jan. 10, 2025, to a misdemeanor count of impersonating an investigator.<\/p>\n<p>He was sentenced Monday, Jan. 12, to the misdemeanor, then three felony counts of perjury were dismissed, said Zara Lockshin, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe completed 240 hours of community service, 26 counseling sessions, gave up his EMT license, and was fired by La Habra Heights Fire Department,\u201d Lockshin said. \u201cThere was no probation, because he completed the terms requested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peel received a type of sentencing called <a href=\"https:\/\/legal-resources.uslegalforms.com\/t\/terminal-disposition#:~:text=Terminal%20disposition%20is%20a%20unique,necessary%20to%20close%20the%20case.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">terminal disposition,<\/a> which meant no probation and no jail time, said his attorney, David Borsari. Under this type of sentencing, the defendant could be required to do community service and attend a program.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2021 traffic stop in Whittier, Peel detained and intimidated his co-worker by ordering him to pull over while activating red-and-blue police lights on an unmarked vehicle, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Peel also admonished the victim for not pulling over fast enough and warned him about a taillight, Venusse Dunn, also a spokesperson for the DA\u2019s Office, has said.<\/p>\n<p>Peel was dressed in his fire uniform and wasn\u2019t armed, Borsari said in a statement last year: \u201cMr. Peel never attempted to issue a citation to or arrest the employee, however, during the encounter the employee has stated he did not feel free to leave.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department arrested Peel on Jan. 27, 2022, after serving a search warrant at his home in the 15000 block of Danbrook Drive in Whittier.
