{"id":513020,"date":"2026-01-13T11:51:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T11:51:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/513020\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T11:51:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T11:51:09","slug":"via-implements-largest-at-once-set-of-service-improvements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/513020\/","title":{"rendered":"VIA implements largest at-once set of service improvements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tEffective Jan. 12, VIA Metropolitan Transit launched its largest set of service improvements that has ever been simultaneously implemented by the agency.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In a nutshell<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.viainfo.net\/servicechanges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a>, the changes were feasible due to the hiring of 107 new full-time bus operators and the accelerated progress of the Better Bus Plan\u2014VIA\u2019s multiyear initiative designed to improve frequency, reliability and overall system performance. The changes affect 30 routes across VIA\u2019s service area, the release states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the largest set of service improvements VIA has implemented at one time, and it directly supports our mission to connect people to what matters most,\u201d Jon Gary Herrera, VIA president and CEO, said. \u201cWe remain committed to delivering a strong system with faster, more frequent and more reliable service that expands access to the places our customers need to go every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the release, VIA used data\u2014such as bus operator availability, current travel patterns, requests from the public and opportunities to maximize improved customer experience with faster, more reliable service\u2014to determine route changes and updates.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the hiring and services changes is provided in part by the voter-approved sales tax that VIA began receiving in 2026.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>VIA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/keepsamoving.com\/projects\/better-bus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Better Bus Plan<\/a> is an initiative designed to create a faster, more direct service on traditional bus routes.
