{"id":513261,"date":"2026-01-13T14:31:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T14:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/513261\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T14:31:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T14:31:11","slug":"houston-suburb-approves-millions-for-expanded-surveillance-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/513261\/","title":{"rendered":"Houston suburb approves millions for expanded surveillance technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sugar Land approved millions in new surveillance technology, including cameras and crime center software, during a recent City Council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>SUGAR LAND, Texas \u2014 The city of Sugar Land has approved funding to purchase upgraded surveillance technology as awareness of the reach of such technology grows across the U.S. and in Houston.<\/p>\n<p>During Sugar Land City Council\u2019s Jan. 6 meeting, the city approved a third amendment to its existing contract with Atlanta-based Flock Safety, increasing the total contract amount to $2.2 million for a five-year lease on Flock&#8217;s license plate reader cameras.<\/p>\n<p>Sugar Land also approved a purchase worth just over $500,000 for a new real-time crime center subscription and two autonomous drones from Scottsdale, Arizona-based Axon Enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>Sugar Land will operate 176 Flock cameras, a city spokesperson confirmed to the Houston Business Journal following the Jan. 6 meeting.
