A beloved Florida<\/a> weatherman has been fired without any explanation after 10 years on the air leaving fans outraged.<\/p>\n

Matt Devitt was removed from his position as Chief Meteorologist of Fort Meyer’s WINK News on January 8, according to an update<\/a> he posted on Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘This decision was not one that I expected or agreed with and was not given the opportunity to say goodbye on-air,’ wrote the 37-year-old.<\/p>\n

The father-of-two added that the news was a complete shock to him, his family and coworkers.<\/p>\n

The bombshell rocked fans as well, who have relentlessly called on WINK for answers while demanding his reinstatement.<\/p>\n

WINK News refused to comment when contacted by the Daily Mail and had not released a reason for Devitt’s firing as of Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Despite the father being let go, Devitt remembered his career with the news outlet as an honor and said it was a privilege to serve the community, especially during major hurricanes like Irma, Helene, and Milton.<\/p>\n

‘I always gave you everything I had with one goal in mind: keeping you safe and informed without the hype,’ wrote the meteorologist.<\/p>\n

Devitt wished WINK News and his coworkers the best as he moved on to his next chapter.<\/p>\n

He revealed he plans to use the experience as an opportunity to spend some meaningful time with his loved ones.<\/p>\n

‘I’m taking a brief pause professionally to reset and be with my family,’ he said.<\/p>\n

‘I\u2019ve missed them and I\u2019m looking forward to every minute. I\u2019ll keep you all updated on what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n

‘Thank you to everyone who has reached out with support, it has meant more to me than you know.’<\/p>\n

Devitt is married to his wife Elizabeth and the couple share two children together.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She was among those expressing her support once news of his firing broke.<\/p>\n

‘Life is a mountain range, and there is no other person I want to conquer mountains with than you!’ Elizabeth said on Facebook.<\/p>\n

Devitt plans to continue giving weather updates to his 1.2 million followers on his Facebook page, where he also received a colossal amount of support.<\/p>\n

Another added: ‘I don\u2019t know what happened! We moved here 10 years ago, my husband asked each other about the weather by saying. What did Matt say today!’<\/p>\n

A third wrote: ‘We\u2019ll miss you on air, but I have a feeling WINK is going to miss all of us viewers more. I\u2019m guessing the new boss is also behind the silly pins everyone had to start wearing?’<\/p>\n

Devitt’s fans have also gone to WINK’s Facebook page and flooded its comments on every post since the weatherman’s firing.<\/p>\n

Many wrote under several posts by the news channel: ‘Bring back Matt!’\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The weather team for the news channel now consists of six meteorologists: Josh Green, Oceana Hayden, Lauren Kreidler, Zach Maloch, Greg Rule, and Nikki Sheaks.<\/p>\n
