{"id":514176,"date":"2026-01-13T23:25:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T23:25:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/514176\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T23:25:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T23:25:14","slug":"convicted-felon-accused-of-sexually-assaulting-spring-isd-high-schooler-after-offering-ride-to-police-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/514176\/","title":{"rendered":"Convicted felon accused of sexually assaulting Spring ISD high schooler after offering ride to police station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SPRING, Texas<\/strong> \u2013 A Spring man with multiple felony convictions has been taken into custody and charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Spring Independent School District high school student last September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Johnny Ray Green, 43, has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault of a child. His bond was denied on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Green was arrested Monday by the Harris County Violent Persons Warrant Task Force. His arrest came after a variety of different elements of evidence linked him to the crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt was a total investigative approach,\u201d Spring ISD Police Chief Matt Rodrigue told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/team\/bnewberry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/team\/bnewberry\/\">KPRC 2\u2019s Bryce Newberry.<\/a> \u201cWith the use of DNA, surveillance cameras from area businesses and locations, and then also from the use of certain types of cameras that are deployed all throughout the Houston metro area, we were able to put the pieces together of the puzzle to identify this suspect.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: 43-year-old Johnny Ray Green has been arrested after allegedly kidnapping &amp; sexually assaulting a 10th grade student at Spring ISD&#8217;s Dekaney High School. <\/p>\n<p>The teen told police she was walking near campus when he approached her and offered to help drive her to a police\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nFy2JmcFu6\">pic.twitter.com\/nFy2JmcFu6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 KPRC 2 Bryce Newberry (@KPRC2Bryce) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KPRC2Bryce\/status\/2011189321940738230?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">January 13, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He is accused of picking up an intoxicated student under the pretense that he would drive her to the police station to make sure she got home. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Instead, he allegedly took her back to his house where the rape occurred last fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Now that Green is in custody, investigators have shifted their attention to seeking other victims. Officials are asking anyone who may have been victimized by Green to come forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to keep looking,\u201d Chief Rodrigue said. \u201cIn my mind, this is a predator, and I\u2019m glad he\u2019s off the streets. Unfortunately, predators often go after multiple victims. If there is somebody, they see this guy\u2019s picture, and they recognize him, please reach out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Harris County prosecutors plan to ask a judge to hold Green without bond pending trial under the new voter-approved Proposition 3, which allows Texas judges to deny bail for certain violent offenses, which includes aggravated kidnapping. <\/p>\n<p><b>What happened<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">According to charging documents, Spring ISD police were called to Andy Dekaney High School on Sept. 3, 2025, regarding a documented runaway who had returned to the campus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The victim, a 15-year-old girl who was a 10th-grader at the school, was found sitting near a door and appeared impaired, according to police. She seemed to be too intoxicated to answer questions, and she said her body was in pain. EMS was called to the school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Investigators said the victim reported leaving campus earlier that day and walking toward a nearby fast-food restaurant when she was approached by a man driving a pickup truck.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">She told police the man claimed he would take her to a police station. She said he \u201csounded like a genuine guy,\u201d and she agreed to get into his car. After she got in, she said he patted her down to make sure she wasn\u2019t an undercover officer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Instead of going to the police station, she said he drove her back to his house, where a graphic sexual assault took place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">She provided authorities details of the suspect\u2019s home, and she described his bedroom as \u201cmessy.\u201d She added that she assumed that he didn\u2019t live alone, because she noticed a pair of black high heels in his room.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After the assault occurred, court records say the suspect turned on Netflix, and he selected a profile under the name \u201cJohn.\u201d The victim said she asked him if his name was \u201cJohn,\u201d and he said no before quickly turning off the TV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">He also reportedly told her he was 25 years old.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After the assault, court records say the suspect dropped the victim off near the location where she was first kidnapped. She said he gave her $10 to get something to eat.<\/p>\n<p><b>The investigation<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">As part of the investigation, police reviewed surveillance video from a bank and nearby businesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Records state the footage shows the victim walking through a parking lot on the afternoon of Sept. 3, followed shortly by a red Ram pickup truck with tan trim entering the area. Additional video captured the truck leaving, stopping at a gas station, and later returning to the same parking lot, where the victim is seen exiting the passenger side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Investigators later received results from the victim\u2019s assault exam, which detected male DNA on the victim\u2019s clothing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">In December, authorities were notified of a CODIS hit\u2014essentially a match in a national DNA database\u2014identifying the DNA as belonging to Green. Police located a vehicle matching the one seen on surveillance at Green\u2019s residence in Spring. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Chief Rodrigue explained that the evidence in this case was gathered fairly quickly compared to other sexual assault investigations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cWhen we start talking about confirming DNA evidence, that\u2019s not an overnight process; that does take weeks, sometimes months, maybe even longer,\u201d he said. \u201cReally, for this type of crime, we\u2019re talking a time span of less than three months.
