We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"sc-1uza6dc-1 cglitp\">Your support makes all the difference.<\/strong>Read more<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/george-clooney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Clooney<\/a> has added his name to the list of actors fighting back against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/quentin-tarantino\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quentin Tarantino<\/a>\u2019s scathing criticism of actors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/paul-dano\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Dano<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/owen-wilson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Owen Wilson<\/a> and Matthew Lillard.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Pulp Fiction director <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/quentin-tarantino-paul-dano-there-will-be-blood-b2877750.html\">Tarantino called Dano the \u201cweakest f***ing actor\u201d<\/a> in Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s acclaimed 2007 film <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/features\/movie-endings-best-films-list-b2780943.html\">There Will Be Blood<\/a>, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, while ranking his favourite films of the 21st century on The Bret Easton Ellis podcast.<\/p>\n<p>He branded Dano \u201csuch a weak, weak, uninteresting guy\u201d, adding \u201cI don\u2019t care for him\u201d, before also name-checking Wedding Crashers star Wilson and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/matthew-lillard-quentin-tarantino-paul-dano-response-b2879588.html\">Scooby-Doo actor Lillard<\/a> as actors he doesn\u2019t enjoy watching.<\/p>\n<p>Clooney, who co-starred with Tarantino in 1996 vampire film From Dusk Till Dawn, has thrown his support behind the actors, saying he would be \u201chonoured\u201d to work with all three, and suggested he was left unimpressed by Tarantino\u2019s \u201ccruelty\u201d during an appearance at AARP\u2019s Movies for Grownups awards at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>He said his latest film Jay Kelly, directed by Noah Baumbach, is a movie \u201cmade by people who love actors\u201d, telling the crowd: \u201cThat\u2019s an important part. People I\u2019ve known most of my life&#8230; most of them are actors. I have a great affinity [for them], and I don\u2019t enjoy watching people be cruel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are living in a time of cruelty; we don\u2019t need to be adding to it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Making it clear he was alluding to Tarantino, Clooney added: \u201cBy the way, Paul Dano and Owen Wilson and Matthew Lillard \u2013\u00a0I would be honoured to work with those actors. Honoured.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/MixCollage-03-Dec-2025-10-16-AM-1918.jpeg\"  loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"Quentin Tarantino criticies Paul Dano\u2019s performance in \u2018There Will Be Blood\u2019\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE inline-gallery-btn\"\/><\/p>\n<p>open image in gallery<\/p>\n<p>Quentin Tarantino criticies Paul Dano\u2019s performance in \u2018There Will Be Blood\u2019 (Getty\/Miramax)<\/p>\n<p>In August 2024, Clooney <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/arts-entertainment\/films\/news\/george-clooney-quentin-tarantino-movie-star-remark-b2596073.html\">said he was \u201ca little irritated\u201d<\/a> with Tarantino after the director questioned the success of his film career.<\/p>\n<p>While speaking to GQ alongside Brad Pitt, the actor, who also directs, said: \u201cHe did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about you, and somebody else, and then this guy goes, \u2018Well, what about George?\u2019 He goes, \u2019He\u2019s not a movie star.\u2019 And then he literally said something like, \u2018Name me a movie since the millennium.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clooney said this put his nose out of joint, adding: \u201cI was like, \u2018Since the millennium?\u2019 That\u2019s kind of my whole f***ing career. So now I\u2019m like, alright, dude, f*** off. I don\u2019t mind giving him s***. You wouldn\u2019t say that to somebody who\u2019s a top-line actor in Hollywood. I\u2019m very popular in this room. I\u2019m not very popular in Hollywood. Two totally different microcosms, right?
