Arsenal are continuing discussions over a potential move for Benjamin Sesko, despite entering the final stages of negotiations to sign Viktor Gy\u00f6keres from Sporting CP<\/a>, in what could prove to be one of the most expensive double forward pursuits in recent Premier League history.<\/p>\n

According to Chemnitzer Morgenpost<\/a>, RB Leipzig<\/strong> have yet to receive any formal withdrawal from Arsenal regarding Sesko<\/strong>, who remains in talks with the club even as the Gunners close in on Gy\u00f6keres. <\/p>\n

Arsenal\u2019s interest in Sesko never disappeared, despite reports throughout the summer framing the situation as a choice between the two forwards.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 22-year-old remains convinced of the next step, and RB Leipzig is still in negotiations with Arsenal,\u201d the German outlet reports, adding that Leipzig want a figure exceeding \u20ac80 million for the Slovenian, who signed a new deal until 2029 after nearly joining Arsenal last summer.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Arsenal\u2019s pursuit of Gy\u00f6keres<\/strong> has entered what sources describe as a critical phase. According to A Bola<\/a>, Arsenal and Sporting are just \u00a35 million apart in their valuations. <\/p>\n

Sporting are holding out for a guaranteed \u20ac70 million (\u00a359 million), while Arsenal\u2019s latest bid is reported to be \u20ac65 million (\u00a354.7 million) plus \u20ac15 million (\u00a312.6 million) in add-ons.<\/p>\n

Arsenal\u2019s new sporting director Andrea Berta<\/strong> travelled to Lisbon over the weekend to meet with Gy\u00f6keres\u2019s agent Kenan Bert<\/strong> and Sporting officials in a meeting that moved the process forward but stopped short of an agreement. <\/p>\n

The Swedish striker, who netted 54 goals last season, has already agreed personal terms with Arsenal, signing off on a five-year contract worth \u20ac8.3 million per season, or roughly \u00a3138,000 a week.<\/p>\n

According to Record, Gy\u00f6keres has made it clear that he will not return to Sporting<\/a> under any circumstances and is threatening to force a loan move if a permanent transfer cannot be finalised. <\/p>\n

He is due back at Alcochete on Friday, but multiple reports state he will not report for training.<\/p>\n

His entourage are reportedly prepared to escalate the matter, including publishing messages they claim show Sporting previously agreed to let him leave for \u20ac60 million plus \u20ac10 million in bonuses. <\/p>\n

Sporting, for their part, are planning for life after the 27-year-old and have identified Luis Su\u00e1rez<\/strong> as his successor.<\/p>\n

Despite the hardening stance from Gy\u00f6keres\u2019s camp and the financial gap that remains, there is optimism in Lisbon and north London that a deal will be struck by Friday. <\/p>\n

But even as that agreement nears, the presence of Sesko in ongoing discussions reflects the scale of Arsenal\u2019s ambitions in the market this summer.<\/p>\n
