JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 City officials are reviewing a permit to demolish the closed Museum of Science & History (MOSH) on Jacksonville\u2019s Southbank, according to News4JAX partners at the Jacksonville Daily Record.<\/a><\/p>\n

ELEV8 Demolition of Jacksonville is the contractor listed on the permit application to demolish the four-story, 83,299-square-foot building at 1025 Museum Circle at a project cost of $835,000.<\/p>\n

ELEV8 intends to demolish the structure and foundation and remove the debris.<\/p>\n

In September of last year, MOSH closed its doors to prepare for a massive transformation and relocation project.<\/p>\n

The museum, which has inspired generations of Jacksonville residents, will remain closed until 2028 when it reopens in a dramatically expanded facility on the Northbank.<\/p>\n

MOSH\u2019s history spans more than eight decades, beginning as the Jacksonville Children\u2019s Museum in 1941. The institution evolved over time, becoming the Museum of Arts & Sciences in 1977 before adopting its current name in 1988.<\/p>\n
