{"id":515879,"date":"2026-01-14T16:28:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T16:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/515879\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T16:28:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T16:28:10","slug":"virginia-tech-jmu-cancel-2026-football-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/515879\/","title":{"rendered":"Virginia Tech, JMU cancel 2026 football game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BLACKSBURG \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>Virginia Tech and James Madison announced Wednesday they have canceled their football game for the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p>The cancellation is a result of the Atlantic Coast Conference\u2019s decision to move to a nine-game conference slate beginning in 2026, which reduced available nonconference scheduling opportunities for league members.<\/p>\n<p>VT and JMU were initially scheduled to play on Sept. 26, 2026 at Lane Stadium. Both institutions will continue to evaluate future scheduling opportunities between the two schools.<\/p>\n<p>Tech will now play three nonconference games during the 2026 season, in addition to its nine-game ACC docket.
