A Jacksonville man, Marcus Williams, 40, has been arrested on charges of second-degree forcible rape, according to court documents. The arrest follows allegations that Williams raped a person in Onslow County in October 2021. The documents state the victim was physically helpless at the time of the assault.<\/p>\n

Williams, a registered sex offender since 2018, has a history of evading law enforcement. In 2017, he was apprehended by the United States Marshals Service after being on the run for over two months.<\/a> He was wanted in Carteret County for first-degree rape and assault by strangulation after a 19-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted by Williams after giving him a ride home. Authorities found Williams hiding in a freezer at a Jacksonville convenience store before taking him into custody.<\/p>\n
