CHESTER, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — In coordination with “Kids Against Hunger United,” local families can find a food resource in their own backyard.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit helped build a food pantry at Drexel Neumann Academy<\/a> this past summer.<\/p>\n

The pantry serves families only of the students at Drexel Neumann Academy.<\/p>\n

Students from the school have formed the “Community Kindness Club” to support the pantry.<\/p>\n

“My favorite part about this is that I know that when I leave here, I will have something that people can remember and something to pass off…It comes from a good place in your heart to think about others,” said 8th grade student, Tegan Williams-Gilbert.<\/p>\n

The community from Villa Maria & Devon Prep are tasked with sustaining the pantry, showcasing how other kids can help kids in need.<\/p>\n

“Kids Against Hunger United is a nonprofit organization with a mission to feed the hungry through food sharing, advocacy and community engagement,” said Founder & Executive Director, Heather Griesser LaPierre.<\/p>\n

“It teaches leadership, empathy, kindness. Seeing that hunger could be your neighbor. Hunger doesn’t discriminate…Anybody could be struggling,” she continued.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit has a large scale warehouse where they package meals to send out in the community.<\/p>\n

This is the Philadelphia chapter of a larger organization: “Kids Against Hunger.”<\/p>\n
