NASCAR\u2019s preseason Cup Series race the Clash will \u201cmake another appearance<\/a> at Bowman Gray Stadium\u201d in Winston-Salem, N.C., next February, according to John Dell of the WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL. Driver Chase Elliott, who won the inaugural race at Bowman Gray this past February, said that the \u201ctrack, the fans and the atmosphere<\/a> around that weekend was tremendous.\u201d He thought that the weekend was a \u201cdefinite upgrade from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum\u201d where The Clash had a three-year run. Sources said that there were \u201ctwo other cities vying for The Clash,\u201d but NASCAR officials \u201craved about the Bowman Gray experience.\u201d Dell notes the \u201conly complaint was the long lines for the buses to return fans to remote parking spots on Sunday night after the race.\u201d There were \u201cmore than 15,000 race fans for The Clash race this year,\u201d and one of the benefits for those fans who bought tickets is that they will \u201cget first crack at purchasing tickets again.\u201d The Clash will be broadcast live by Fox Sports again. Winston-Salem City Council last month agreed to \u201ccover half the projected\u201d $1M cost for a new scoreboard at Bowman Gray.
