From a new pastrami-centric festival to the release of seasonal winter brews, there is plenty for the Alamo City to discuss over a cold one this month. Here is the latest from Alamo City\u2019s brewery scene.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IKYMI<br \/><\/strong>San Antonio was hit with a flurry of brewery closures at the end of 2025. On December 13, beer shop and neighborhood hangout <strong>The Growler Exchange<\/strong> called <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/restaurants-bars\/growler-exchange-midtown-closing\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">last call<\/a> on its Midtown shop at 914 E. Elmira St. And, on December 30, <strong>Mad Pecker Brewing Co.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/restaurants-bars\/mad-pecker-brewing-closing-again\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">shuttered again<\/a> after a brief six-month comeback.<\/p>\n<p>One beloved brewery, however, is finding new life after filing for bankruptcy in February 2025. <strong>Alamo Beer Company<\/strong> found new life after being <a href=\"https:\/\/sanantonio.culturemap.com\/news\/restaurants-bars\/alamo-beer-company-acquired\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">acquired<\/a> by Brisbane, Australia, private equity firm SKJ Capital in late December.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New year, new releases<\/strong><br \/>10 local breweries recently untapped a range of new India Pale Ales, saisons, cream ales, and lagers that are sure to keep consumers warm and toasty over the winter.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ee-ul\">\n<li><strong>Cibolo Creek Brewing Co. <\/strong>\u2014 This Boerne <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cibolocreekbrewing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brewery <\/a>released <strong>Low Earth Orbit<\/strong> over the holidays. It is a crisp session IPA that comes in with an alcohol-by-volume (ABV) of 4.2.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Free Roam Brewing Co.<\/strong> \u2014 The downtown Boerne <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeroambrewing.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">producer <\/a>just debuted <strong>Hill Country Sunrise<\/strong>, a dry American cream ale described as having a subtle floral hop aroma.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Longtab Brewing Co.<\/strong> \u2014 <strong>Augustus<\/strong> is the name of a Belgian dark saison that contains notes of apricot, dark chocolate, and scone. This new brew at the Leon Valley area-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.longtabbrewing.com\/?srsltid=AfmBOoohEyk_Vv3pvl1z27aQJK55cxqZvCoQx0r22FuJamsQjP4pyXQD\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">brewery <\/a>is named after Team Augustus, a special World War II unit whose personnel parachuted into Occupied Europe to organize, arm, and train resistance fighters. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Thirsty Pups Brewery<\/strong>\u2014 The dog-friendly Castle Hills <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/thirstypupsbrewery\/?hl=en\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">brewery <\/a>has released <strong>Pumping Lager<\/strong>, a Vienna lager featuring Hallertauer Mittelfr\u00fch hops, and a malt character with notes of bread crust and light caramel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Roadmap Brewing Co.<\/strong>\u2014 The latest installment of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadmapbrewing.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Roadmap\u2019s <\/a>\u201c<strong>Cat on a\u2026<\/strong>\u201d beer series is Cat on a Sleigh, a New England IPA accentuated by notes of ruby red grapefruit, oranges, and pineapple.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Breakaway Brewing Co.<\/strong>\u2014 The East Side <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breakawaybrewing.us\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">brewery <\/a>is starting 2026 with <strong>Holiday Post Ride<\/strong>, a small-batch brew that is a bitter, slightly spiced Christmas-style beer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Guadalupe Brewing Co. and Pizza Kitchen<\/strong>\u2014 Known for its tasty stouts and porters, this New Braunfels <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guadalupebrew.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">brewery <\/a>has produced <strong>Mexican Cake Stout<\/strong>, which contains a chocolate stout base infused with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a hint of habanero heat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>28 Songs Brewhouse and Kitchen<\/strong> \u2014 The north Boerne <a href=\"https:\/\/28songs.beer\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">brewpub <\/a>began offering <strong>Sweater Weather<\/strong> right before Christmas, a holiday-style stout that is still available for thirsty beer fans who are still in a holiday mood.<\/li>\n<li><strong>BS Brewing<\/strong> \u2014The Seguin-area <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?gs_ssp=eJzj4tFP1zcsKKlINkuqKDFgtFI1qLAwM01OMjSwNEwxtzRINLW0MqhITLFMMjMzSU02NUtLSTM09eJKKlZIKkotz8xLBwBwSBNw&amp;q=bs+brewing&amp;oq=bs+b&amp;gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqDQgCEC4YrwEYxwEYgAQyDwgAECMYJxjjAhiABBiKBTISCAEQLhgnGK8BGMcBGIAEGIoFMg0IAhAuGK8BGMcBGIAEMgYIAxBFGDkyBwgEEAAYgAQyBggFEEUYPDIGCAYQRRg9MgYIBxBFGDzSAQgxOTg5ajBqNKgCALACAA&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">microbrewery <\/a>recently launched <strong>Cop-Out<\/strong>, a coffee porter infused with bits of donuts and honey buns.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Roughhouse Brewing<\/strong>\u2014 Ahead of its seventh anniversary, this San Marcos-area <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roughhousebrewing.com\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">brewery <\/a>released <strong>Camille<\/strong>, a boozy golden strong ale made with Texas-grown grapes, and three kinds of hops \u2013 Citra, Nelson Sauvin, and Superdelic. The beer is named after co-owner Davy Pasternak\u2019s mother.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Deli-cious<\/strong><br \/><strong>Wild Barley Kitchen and Brewery<\/strong> will be the place to be from 4-8 pm on January 17 for people who really love craft beer and pastrami.The Alamo Heights-area brewery will host <a href=\"https:\/\/order.toasttab.com\/online\/wild-barley-kitchen-expansion-8403-broadway-san-antonio-tx-78209\/item-jan-17th-pastrami-fest_a2c4b1c3-2eca-4d52-baf1-d7246ffbd731\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pastrami Fest<\/a>, featuring seven small pastrami-inspired dishes each paired with a Wild Barley beer.<\/p>\n<p>The dishes are brisket Reuben, dino rib bites, grilled oyster, burnt end poppers, turkey Reuben, duck breast, and tallow fries.Organizers call the event a guided, come-and-go tasting event, which is also happening on the one-year anniversary of Wild Barley being featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.<\/p>\n<p>The $75 all-inclusive tickets can be ordered at the Wild Barley website and at the brewery.<\/p>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The San Antonio beer scene is kicking off the year with a heavy pour of news.
