Queensland skipper Cameron Munster fell to his knees before being mobbed by teammates after leading his team to an emotional victory over the Blues <\/a>after the tragic passing of his father. <\/p>\n

Munster only rejoined the team for the captain\u2019s run on Tuesday after spending time with his family grieving<\/a>, before leading Queensland to a 24-12 to clinch the 2025 series.<\/p>\n

Munster showed immense strength in summing up his emotions post match when interviewed on the field. <\/p>\n

\u201cYeah look, it\u2019s a tough one,\u201d Munster said. <\/p>\n

\u201cLike a high of emotions. I think when someone loses someone, you forget about it sometimes, but then it brings back memories and obviously, I just want to say thank you to all the rugby league community. They\u2019ve been outstanding. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve had so much support and text messages from not only obviously rugby league, but also the NSW team, so just shows what kind of character those guys are and yeah, just forever grateful. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd rugby league and that I think family is more important than anything and a lot of people showed that the last couple of days and really got behind me, so I want to say thank you to all those people and thanks for coming out tonight.\u201d <\/p>\n

Munster was stoic but became emotional talking to his wife and kids. <\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to my Mum, My sister, my partner Bianca and the kids,\u201d Munster said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to say thank you for getting behind me this weekend. I know it\u2019s been a tough time, but yeah, I guess at the end of the day, that\u2019s life. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I just want to appreciate everyone that\u2019s been around me and make this week so special. And yeah, we\u2019ll enjoy it tonight and can\u2019t wait to obviously go next year and hopefully see what we can do. But thank you guys. Have a good night.\u201d <\/p>\n

Earlier Munster paid tribute to the Blues for reaching out to him in a tough week. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just like to thank the NSW Blues, Isaah Nathan, Laurie Daley and all the coaching staff and all the players,\u201d Munster said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to say I really appreciate some of you reaching out to me during the week. Just shows how good rugby league is. <\/p>\n

\u201cFamily\u2019s bigger than the sport and yeah, I just want to say thank you for rallying behind me. It doesn\u2019t go unnoticed. Munster didn\u2019t think the Maroons had it won until the final whistle.<\/p>\n

Munster wrote himself a little bit of history by becoming the fourth Queenslander to win his first series as captain, joining Darren Lockyer, Trevor Gillmeister and Cameron Smith. <\/p>\n

Andrew Johns paid tribute to Munster\u2019s heroic performance. <\/p>\n

\u201cWell, Queensland supporters, your skipper, he\u2019s played one for the ages,\u201d Johns said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe passing of his father on Sunday, Steven, the courage to play but also wanting to play. He\u2019s inspired his teammates they\u2019ve lifted. They\u2019ve no doubt they\u2019ve lifted for the for the Munster family. <\/p>\n
