{"id":518845,"date":"2026-01-15T21:41:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T21:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/518845\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T21:41:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T21:41:13","slug":"ex-nhler-milan-lucic-notched-a-wild-gordie-howe-hat-trick-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/518845\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-NHLer Milan Lucic Notched A Wild Gordie Howe Hat Trick In Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s no doubt the former Bruin can still throw a punch.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Published<\/strong>January 15, 2026 2:50 PM EST\u2022<strong>Updated<\/strong>January 15, 2026 1:39 PM EST<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"fb\">Facebook<\/li>\n<li class=\"tw\">Twitter<\/li>\n<li class=\"email\">Email<\/li>\n<li class=\"link\">Copy Link<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/category\/milan-lucic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Milan Lucic<\/a> tried to make an NHL comeback after sitting out for nearly two years following domestic violence charges against him being dropped.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That comeback ended when he was cut by the AHL&#8217;s Springfield Thunderbirds, and that sent the 37-year-old overseas to Scotland and the Fife Flyers of the UK&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/category\/elite-ice-hockey-league\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elite Ice Hockey League<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">And honestly, things seem to be going alright. He just notched one of the best accomplishments in hockey, a Gordie Howe hat trick.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">READ: <a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/sports\/milan-lucic-joins-eihl-team-amid-controversy\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>EX-NHL TOUGH GUY MILAN LUCI\u0106 CONTINUING HIS CAREER IN A PLACE YOU WOULDN\u2019T EXPECT<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That, of course, is having a goal, an assist, and a fight all in one game. Oddly enough, Gordie Howe himself only ever did this twice, but, I mean, would you want to fight Gordie Howe?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">I didn&#8217;t think so.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Lucic and the Flyers took on the Sheffield Steelers on January 10, and the former Stanley Cup champ had himself a night,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">First of all, I was not prepared for Scottish hockey play-by-play, but if that became a new alternative stream, I&#8217;d probably be checking it out semi-regularly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">But I think we need to talk about that fight. That was one-sided, with Lucic making quick work of Sheffield&#8217;s Kyle Watson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">That might lead to some of his teammates taking the piss out of him, to borrow a Britishism. But good on him for having the stones to drop the mitts with someone who can throw a punch like the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/category\/boston-bruins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bruin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Sure, I bet there are a lot of guys in the EIHL who can throw a punch, but there aren&#8217;t too many who can say they terrorized the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.outkick.com\/category\/national-hockey-league\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHL<\/a> for the better part of the 2010s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">Through eight games with Fife, Lucic has 7 points (4G, 3A) and 9 PIMs, five of which came from that tilt against Sheffield.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">On top of that, he&#8217;s averaging over 17 minutes per game, which I can promise you is way more than he&#8217;d be logging in the NHL had he managed to crack a roster.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"There&#8217;s no doubt the former Bruin can still throw a punch.
