It is located at St. Johns County Fire Rescue Headquarters on Gaines Road in St. Augustine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cThis memorial ensures that their names, their service, and their sacrifice endure beyond our lifetimes,\u201d said Sean McGee, St. Johns County Fire Rescue Chief. \u201cIt gives future generations a place to learn what it truly means to serve selflessly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">McGee emphasized that firefighting is a profession defined by courage and responsibility, noting that every call carries uncertainty and risk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cFor some, that call became their last,\u201d he said. \u201cTheir sacrifice is not measured only in the moments of service we remember, but in the crews they stood beside, the community they served with honor, and in the families they loved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">McGee also addressed the families of fallen firefighters, acknowledging their loved ones\u2019 lasting impact on the department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cYour loved ones are forever part of this department\u2019s story,\u201d he said. \u201cTheir sacrifice guides us. Their memory strengthens us.
