A 31-year-old man suspected of robbing a Santee bank earlier this week was arrested three days after the heist as he tried to enter the U.S. from Mexico at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, a sheriff\u2019s sergeant said Friday.<\/p>\n
The robbery happened just after 9 a.m. Monday at the Chase Bank branch on Town Center Parkway at Mission Gorge Road, Sgt. Justin Crews said in a news release.<\/p>\n
According to Crews, a man dressed in black and wearing sunglasses handed a teller a note demanding money.<\/p>\n
Investigators obtained video surveillance, Crews said, and deputies from the Santee sheriff\u2019s station recognized the suspect.<\/p>\n
The suspect was arrested just before 7 p.m. Thursday as he tried to cross the U.S.-Mexico border on foot at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, Crews said.<\/p>\n
