The wet, hefty snowflakes that fell across the Philadelphia region Saturday blanketed buildings and streets with slushy snow. But it might not stick around.<\/p>\n
While the city recorded about half an inch of snow, and the suburbs as much as 2.5 inches, warming temperatures meant that accumulation \u201cshould be gradually diminishing throughout the day,\u201d said Mike Lee, lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.<\/p>\n
Sunday, however, could be a different story: \u201cExpect more snow tomorrow than what you saw today,\u201d Lee said.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s what to know about the snow, and the chances for more this weekend.<\/p>\n
\u2018Wet and slushy\u2019<\/p>\n
With temperatures right around freezing, the snow that fell Saturday morning and early afternoon was \u201cdefinitely wet and slushy,\u201d Lee said.<\/p>\n
By mid-afternoon, the snow had stopped. \u201cThis will be mostly it for today,\u201c Lee said, though \u201dyou can\u2019t rule out a quick flurry for later this afternoon.”<\/p>\n
Lee predicted some of the snow would melt as Saturday progressed \u2014 but noted that the melt could turn into black ice on roadways as temperatures fall at night.<\/p>\n
And Sunday offers another chance for snow to accumulate around the region, Lee said.<\/p>\n
