The clip is introduced by Superman star David Corenswet.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">In the scene, the villainous Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) directs his staff in programming The Hammer of Boravia&#8217;s fight moves against the Man of Steel as they brawl over the skies of Metropolis.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">The Hammer of Boravia is an original character created by writer-director James Gunn and who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/DCU_\/comments\/1hjyovv\/high_res_grodd_news_paper_and_everything_it_says\/?utm_source=embedv2&amp;utm_medium=post_embed&amp;utm_content=whitespace&amp;embed_host_url=https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/new-superman-trailer-teaser-finally-properly-reveals-brand-new-villain-the-hammer-of-boravia\" class=\"link jsx-1337145738 jsx-3925284146 underlined\" data-cy=\"styled-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">first revealed in a faux Daily Planet article<\/a> \u2013 written by Clark Kent, no less \u2013 that was used as marketing material for the first DCU movie.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Clark\u2019s article said the Hammer of Boravia came to Metropolis seeking &#8220;retribution for the recent political interventions in Boravia by Superman.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;Boravia has been the source of numerous headlines worldwide in recent weeks as it invaded its neighboring country Jarhanpur, only for the brief war to be swiftly ended by the Superman,\u201d according to Clark\u2019s article. \u201cThe President of Boravia, Vasil Glarkos, maintains the Hammer of Boravia is not a representative of the national government, but rather an independent vigilante.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">The clip revealing that Luthor is actually behind the Hammer of Boravia\u2019s actions may seem like a spoiler to some but, honestly, are you really surprised that Lex Luthor is behind something that makes Superman look bad?<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">As IGN\u2019s Jesse Schedeen observed when the trailer first showed the Hammer of Boravia in action, the armored villain\u2019s mission to Metropolis \u201cmakes it clear that <a class=\"link jsx-1337145738 jsx-3925284146 underlined\" data-cy=\"styled-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/james-gunn-superman-trailer-lex-luthor-villain-ultraman-hammer-of-boravia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gunn\u2019s Superman will explore the challenges Kal-El faces trying to be not just a force for good inside Metropolis, but on the world stage<\/a>. He\u2019s doing his best to protect all innocents and creating an international incident in the process.
