Minnesota Vikings linebacker Dallas Turner was allegedly scammed out of $240,000 in a bank fraud scheme, according to the Star Tribune<\/a> and ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson told ESPN that charges are in the works for several substances and that around $2,500 of the stolen funds have been recovered:<\/p>\n

“Through our investigation, several suspects have been identified, and we are working toward criminal charges to hold them accountable,” Eagan (Minnesota) Police Sgt. Rich Evans said in a statement to ESPN. Approximately $2,500 of the stolen funds have been returned, Evans said, adding that the investigation remains active.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The details of the alleged scheme were laid out in a search warrant affidavit filed in Dakota County District this week, as part of the police’s effort to seize financial records from the JPMorgan Chase branch in Eagan, Minnesota, the city where the Vikings’ practice facility is located.<\/p>\n

Basically, someone called Turner pretending to be a JP Morgan Chase employee and got him to wire the money to two other supposed business accounts. From the Star Tribune:<\/p>\n

Turner and his attorney contacted police in April to report that Turner received a call on Feb. 19 \u201cfrom an individual impersonating a JP Morgan Chase banker. The caller claimed someone was attempting to impersonate [Turner] at a Chase Bank branch in Arizona and presented two copies of ID to execute a wire transfer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The caller directed Turner to immediately transfer his money to two separate business accounts in an effort to thwart the theft attempt.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That afternoon, Turner went to a Chase branch in Eagan and transferred $120,000 to \u201cIsland Food Truck LLC.\u201d Before day was over, he visited a Chase Bank branch in West St. Paul and transferred another $120,000 to \u201cCNL FL LLC.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Turner was the Vikings’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, going 17th overall out of Alabama. Per OverTheCap<\/a>, the Fort Lauderdale native is guaranteed $15.8 million on his rookie contract with an $8.3 million signing bonus received last year.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old saw sporadic action in his rookie season, appearing in 16 games and starting none while accruing 17 total tackles and three sacks. Pro Football Focus graded him out as No. 90 on a list of 211 edge defenders for the season.<\/p>\n
