Here\u2019s where to vote in Tarrant County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"&quot;byline&quot;\">by Drew Shaw, Fort Worth Report <br \/>January 19, 2026<\/p>\n<p>Early voting for the <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2026\/01\/14\/a-bellwether-election-tarrants-texas-senate-runoff-draws-national-attention\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">high-profile runoff election<\/a> for the Texas Senate opens Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Texas Senate District 9 covers most of Tarrant County and sees candidates Taylor Rehmet, a Fort Worth Democrat, and Leigh Wambsganss, a Southlake Republican, vying for the seat. Election Day for the runoff is Jan. 31.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what you need to know.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Early voting is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarrantcountytx.gov\/content\/dam\/main\/elections\/2026\/0126\/locations\/0126_EV_Sched.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Jan. 21-27<\/a> at the following times:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 21-23<\/li>\n<li>7 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 24\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>10 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 25\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>7 a.m.-7 p.m. Jan. 26-27<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Early voting locations can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarrantcountytx.gov\/content\/dam\/main\/elections\/2026\/0126\/locations\/0126_EV_Sched.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tarrant County residents can check if they live in <a href=\"https:\/\/wrm.capitol.texas.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Senate District 9 here<\/a>. Voter registration status and sample ballots can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/gisit.tarrantcounty.com\/TCVL\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u00a0this page<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Election Day, voting runs 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarrantcountytx.gov\/content\/dam\/main\/elections\/2026\/0126\/locations\/0126_Vote_Center_Locations.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">at these locations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The runoff election was triggered after neither Rehmet nor Wambsganss <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/11\/05\/tarrant-voters-weigh-2-republicans-1-democrat-for-texas-senate-election\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">clai<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/11\/05\/tarrant-voters-weigh-2-republicans-1-democrat-for-texas-senate-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">m<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/11\/05\/tarrant-voters-weigh-2-republicans-1-democrat-for-texas-senate-election\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ed over 50% of the vote<\/a> in a three-way November race.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That election saw <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/11\/05\/tarrant-county-sees-higher-than-normal-voter-turnout-despite-polling-place-reductions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">record-high turnout<\/a> for an odd-numbered year election \u2014 a trend political experts attributed greatly to the Senate race.<\/p>\n<p>Rehmet took the lead and came about 2-percentage points shy of winning outright, while Wambsganss split the GOP vote with her Republican opponent.<\/p>\n<p>The winner on Jan. 31 will serve the remainder of now-acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock\u2019s term, which runs through the end of the year. Candidates have already filed for a prospective rematch for a full four-year term in the Legislature in the March primaries.<\/p>\n<p>In order to cast a ballot, voters must present one of seven valid photo IDs:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety<\/li>\n<li>Texas election identification certificate issued by DPS<\/li>\n<li>Texas personal identification card issued by DPS<\/li>\n<li>Texas handgun license issued by DPS<\/li>\n<li>U.S. military identification card containing the person\u2019s photograph<\/li>\n<li>U.S. citizenship certificate containing the person\u2019s photograph<\/li>\n<li>U.S. passport (book or card)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If a voter doesn\u2019t have an acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one, they must fill out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sos.state.tx.us\/elections\/forms\/pol-sub\/reasonable-impediment-declaration.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">reasonable impediment declaration form<\/a> and present a copy or original of one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A government document that shows the voter\u2019s name and an address, including the voter\u2019s voter registration certificate<\/li>\n<li>Current utility bill<\/li>\n<li>Bank statement<\/li>\n<li>Government check<\/li>\n<li>Paycheck<\/li>\n<li>A certified U.S. birth certificate or a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter\u2019s identity, which may include a foreign birth document<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Drew Shaw is a government accountability reporter for the Fort Worth Report.
