They were seen crossing Taft Avenue, from a neighborhood that they have been frequenting lately, to get to the lake.<\/p>\n<p>Typically, the waters of Lake Loveland are much lower this year after they have been drawn down for irrigation purposes, but this year, water levels are higher due to r<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reporterherald.com\/2025\/11\/10\/why-lake-loveland-is-so-full-and-boyd-lake-so-low\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">epairs at Boyd Lake.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Two bull elk appear to look both ways before crossing Taft Avenue at 22nd Street on their way to Lake Loveland on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026.
