{"id":52941,"date":"2025-07-10T02:17:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T02:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/52941\/"},"modified":"2025-07-10T02:17:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T02:17:09","slug":"former-cy-young-winner-dallas-keuchel-resurfaces-with-royals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/52941\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Cy Young winner Dallas Keuchel resurfaces with Royals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dallas Keuchel is getting another shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After bouncing around baseball for much of the past half-decade, the veteran southpaw signed a minor league deal with the Royals on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Keuchel will start at Triple-A Omaha and earn a prorated $2 million if he reaches the majors this season, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JeffPassan\/status\/1942948507339415810\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to ESPN\u2019s Jeff Passan<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36489785\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/AP_Royals_Keuchel_Baseball_74849-b727c-0.jpg\" alt=\"Baseball player pitching a ball.\" class=\"wp-image-36489785\"  \/>Milwaukee Brewers starter Dallas Keuchel throws during the first inning of a baseball game, June 26, 2024, in Milwaukee. AP<\/p>\n<p>The deal marks Keuchel\u2019s return to professional baseball after being released by the Brewers in June of last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Keuchel was once one of the best pitchers in baseball, winning the 2015 American League Cy Young and making two All-Star teams during his first seven big league seasons with the Astros.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been downhill for Keuchel since leaving Houston after the 2018 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 90 outings (84 starts) since 2019, Keuchel has a 5.03 ERA while striking out just 6.14 batters per nine innings and walking 3.42 per nine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over that stretch, Keuchel has pitched for six different franchises, including the Braves, White Sox, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Twins and Brewers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.57055215;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36489792\" width=\"927\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/163306978_1022856856.jpg\" alt=\"Baseball player pitching a ball.\" class=\"wp-image-36489792\"  \/>Dallas Keuchel of the Houston Astros pitches against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the first inning at Angel Stadium on April 21, 2018 in Anaheim, California.
