During <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lw3FbOspa-o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an interview with CNBC<\/a>, Jassy says the inventory Amazon and third-party sellers prebought in early 2025 to keep prices low has \u201crun out,\u201d which means \u201cyou start to see some of the tariffs creep into some of the prices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The admission comes just one day after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kielinstitut.de\/publications\/news\/americas-own-goal-americans-pay-almost-entirely-for-trumps-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a study from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy<\/a> found that foreign exporters absorb just 4 percent of the cost of tariffs, while 96 percent is passed on to American consumers. \u201cSome sellers are deciding that they\u2019re passing on those higher costs to consumers in the form of higher prices,\u201d Jassy tells CNBC. \u201cSome are deciding that they\u2019ll absorb it to drive demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">On top of a wave of tariffs, Trump issued an executive order to close the \u201cde minimis\u201d loophole that allowed low-cost goods to enter the US duty-free.
