{"id":531282,"date":"2026-01-21T03:23:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T03:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/531282\/"},"modified":"2026-01-21T03:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T03:23:09","slug":"scottsdale-mayors-chief-of-staff-suspended-for-possible-policy-violations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/531282\/","title":{"rendered":"Scottsdale mayor\u2019s chief of staff suspended for possible policy violations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky\u2019s chief of staff Lamar Whitmer was led out of city hall by police during a packed planning commission meeting and placed on paid nondisciplinary suspension Jan. 14 because of possible policy violations, according to a spokeswoman for the city\u2019s administration. <\/p>\n<p>Allegations of policy violations by Whitmer were coming in as late as earlier Jan. 14, requiring action be taken then, city administration spokeswoman Holly Peralta said in a written statement released Jan. 20.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs outlined in the city charter, the mayor and members of city council do not have direct oversight of city employees, with the exception of charter officers,\u201d Peralta said. \u201cThe mayor\u2019s chief of staff position is not a charter officer position and is therefore supervised by the city manager.
