Don\u2019t move. There\u2019s like a 2.5 metre (8-foot) python on you,&#8217;\u201d Bloor\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cdex34930r4o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told BBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.77469671;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38217140\" width=\"1024\" height=\"577\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/eight-foot-long-carpet-python-119170394.jpg\" alt=\"An eight-foot-long carpet python, with black, gray, and tan patterned scales, is partially visible inside a window.\" class=\"wp-image-38217140\"  \/>A woman in Australia woke up to an 8-foot snake on her chest. Rachel Bloor<\/p>\n<p>After swearing repeatedly following the rude awakening, Bloor\u2019s next move was to get the couple\u2019s pet dogs out of the bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought if my dalmatian realizes that there\u2019s a snake there\u2026 it\u2019s gonna be carnage,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was just trying to shimmy out from under the covers\u2026 in my mind, going, \u2018Is this really happening? This is so bizarre,&#8217;\u201d Bloor said.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.75;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38217141\" width=\"443\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/eight-foot-long-carpet-python-119170210.jpg\" alt=\"An eight-foot-long carpet python partially inside a bedroom window.\" class=\"wp-image-38217141\"  \/>The non-venomous carpet python got in through her bedroom window. Rachel Bloor<\/p>\n<p>She believes the serpent, a non-venomous carpet python, squeezed itself into the bedroom via the window shutters.<\/p>\n<p>The couple took pictures of the enormous striped snake that had invaded their bedroom.<\/p>\n<p>After freeing herself, Bloor began feeding it back out the window the same way it came in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was that big that even though it had been curled up on me, part of its tail was still out the shutter. I grabbed him, [but] even then he didn\u2019t seem overly freaked out. He just sort of wobbled in my hand,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Carpet pythons, a common snake found in the coastal areas of Australia, primarily eat small mammals, birds and lizards.<\/p>\n<p>They can reach lengths of up to 13 feet and have also been known to kill and eat domestic cats and dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Bloor puts her calmness during the situation down to her growing up in the countryside, in contrast to her husband, who was badly shaken up by the encounter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think if you\u2019re calm, they\u2019re calm,\u201d she said, adding that it would have been a different story if she had encountered a cane toad \u2014 an invasive species native to Central and South America that has caused havoc across Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t stand them, like they make me dry retch. So if it was a cane toad, it would have scared me,\u201d Bloor said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Py don\u2019t believe it.
