Charles Ives\u2019 poetic The Unanswered Question, his most famous work, opens the program, while Roy Harris\u2019 Symphony No. 3 and Aaron Copland\u2019s iconic Appalachian Spring, both expressions of an authentic \u201cAmerican\u201d musical voice, bring it to a close. Born in Oklahoma and raised outside of LA, Harris vividly captures the colors and landscapes of the West in his works. In\u00a0Appalachian Spring, Copland movingly depicts a young preacher and his wife embarking on a life together in the American frontier.\u202f<\/p>\n
