Supplemental data on median home value and unemployment were acquired from the U.S. Census Bureau. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZFCYHSKHWBFJRD5AEWJ2MGNTH4\">The places where the most young adults live at home are a mix of states with high housing costs and high unemployment, according to the news source, aimed at people over age 50. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"O7MNND7MAFHDDAUFJEQXZP7IFI\">In New York City \u2014 where the average rent for a one-bedroom is about $4,000 a month \u2014 34.9% of adults 18 to 34 years old live with their parents, among the most of any metro area, the study found.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2ZMN4ZXXKNDZXABLLSJ4MGQKXM\">And while rent is lower in Detroit, high unemployment could explain why 40% of young adults live with their parents there.
