He\u2019ll embark on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/louis-tomlinson-shares-single-lemonade-announces-new-album-how-did-i-get-here-and-2026-uk-ireland-tour-3896606\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a UK and European headline tour<\/a> in March, including a gig at London\u2019s O2.<\/p>\n<p>During a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/music\/pop\/louis-tomlinson-billboard-cover-story-interview-1236151775\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Billboard<\/a>, Tomlinson was asked if he had decided which 1D songs he would be working into his 2026 setlist. He has previously performed the boyband\u2019s tracks \u2018Night Changes\u2019, \u2018Drag Me Down\u2019, \u2018Little Black Dress\u2019, \u2018No Control\u2019 and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor starters, I like to pick one that I wrote \u2013 but the biggest challenge is finding a lyric that feels all right to sing as a 34-year-old guy,\u201d he responded.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Tomlinson explained that this was \u201cactually not the easiest thing to do\u201d now he is an older artist, \u201cbecause some of those One Direction lyrics are fucking raunchy, man, proper!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cBut it\u2019s also a really fun thing to try and integrate something sonically.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do a version of \u2018Night Changes\u2019 that\u2019s got some real tempo behind it \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/sam-fender\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sam Fender<\/a> was an inspiration for that composition of it. That\u2019s a full-circle feeling of a song that I sang in the band, and now I\u2019ve found a way for it to fit in [my] set.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the conversation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/louis-tomlinson-says-it-was-a-bit-of-a-shame-to-watch-bts-break-one-directions-records-3924077\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tomlinson admitted that it was \u201ca bit of a shame\u201d to watch BTS eclipse One Direction\u2019s success<\/a>. \u201cEvery time I logged into Twitter, they\u2019d just taken one of our records for something \u2013 some fastest-selling thing, and they\u2019d take it away!\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I don\u2019t begrudge them that \u2013 that\u2019s the nature of the music industry, it keeps moving.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The imminent \u2018How Did I Get Here?\u2019 will follow on from Tomlinson\u2019s second solo record, 2022\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/reviews\/album\/louis-tomlinson-faith-in-the-future-album-review-3344791\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018Faith In The Future\u2019<\/a>. His former bandmate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/artists\/harry-styles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harry Styles<\/a> is set to release his fourth LP, \u2018Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally\u2019, on March 6.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/news\/music\/louis-tomlinson-on-finding-his-artistic-identity-itll-be-an-ever-evolving-process-3305938\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Speaking to\u00a0NME\u00a0in 2022<\/a>, Tomlinson explained that he was \u201cdefinitely\u201d more comfortable with who he was as an artist compared to when he first went solo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat has been a process and I think it\u2019ll be an ever-evolving process as well,\u201d he told us. \u201cBut I definitely feel really comfortable about just following my heart musically and seeing where it gets me.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Louis Tomlinson has explained why he won\u2019t perform certain One Direction songs at his solo shows.
