JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 The Duval County School Board\u2019s recent achievement of its first-ever \u201cA\u201d grade<\/a> could be the beginning of potential growth for Jacksonville\u2019s housing market.<\/p>\n

When families consider buying a home, a quality school district that shows a promising performance is usually a key factor.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of supply and demand, there\u2019s a higher demand on houses that are in a county that\u2019s rated \u201dA” than a county that\u2019s rated \u201cB,\u201d\u201d Realtor David Elian said.<\/p>\n

RELATED: <\/b>DCPS earned an \u2018A\u2019 grade for the first time in history. But district leaders say there\u2019s still work to be done<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

According to Redfin data<\/a>, home prices in May averaged just over $313,000, approximately 4% lower than last year. Properties remained on the market for an average of 63 days, an 11-day increase compared to the previous year.<\/p>\n

Elian believed the A-rating would increase home prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll take a few months, you probably won\u2019t see it immediately, but over the course of 2,3,4, months or a year, it\u2019s going to really help our homeowners with their values of their of their homes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

DCPS Superintendent Dr. Christopher Bernier addressed the potential influx of new families to the district.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that we get our fair share of them,\u201d he said. \u201cThat would be the most wonderful thing to help our financial situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Bernier didn\u2019t want parents to base their housing aspirations solely on school grades.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want people to make an informed choice. I want them to come visit, meet our principals, know what our schools can deliver, and then go back and make some decisions about what\u2019s going to be the best for our student,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Overall, the \u201cA\u201d school grade is a win that could attract more students and inspire families to call Jacksonville home.<\/p>\n
