A depraved Bronx mom was arrested for allegedly keeping her twin sons \u2013 now 14 \u2013 under house arrest for nearly a decade and starving them in a \u201cshocking, horrifying form of child abuse,\u201d prosecutors said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lissette Soto Domenech, 64, allegedly starved the two boys and kept them virtually housebound in their Riverdale home between November 3, 2016, and October 15, 2025, the Bronx District Attorney\u2019s Office charged.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A child protective specialist from the city\u2019s Administration for Children\u2019s Services showed up at the Mosholu Avenue home on the October date and called 911 after receiving several anonymous complaints, the DA\u2019s office said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When investigators found the boys, one of them weighed a measly 54 pounds and the other only 51, and both were well below the normal height for their age,\u00a0according to prosecutors.\u00a0<\/p>\n
One of the boys, who is autistic, apparently was never evaluated or received services \u2013 and only infant cereal, baby bottles and toddler toys could be found in the apartment, with no age-appropriate food or items in sight, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n
FDNY EMTs took the boys to Montefiore Children\u2019s Hospital where they required treatment for three months.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A neighbor told The Post that she believed Domenech wanted her sons \u201cto stay babies forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe she didn\u2019t want her kids to grow up\u2026 \u2029She desperately wanted a baby\u2026 In the early days when we first came to this building, she got into tears. I said, \u2018Have you got a family?\u2019 \u2029And she got tearful and said, \u2018No, not yet.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Beginning in November of 2016, Domenech allegedly stopped taking the boys to a doctor \u2013 and in September 2017 began submitting false documents to the city\u2019s Department of Education claiming she homeschooled them, the DA\u2019s office said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Domenech\u2019s husband \u2014 the twins\u2019 father \u2014 recently died and had had a strained relationship with his wife for several years, but was a very friendly man who \u201cloved his kids,\u201d multiple neighbors told The Post Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
The father told one neighbor in the Riverdale co-op building that he wanted to keep the children home because \u201cthe world\u2019s crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe told me \u2018My kids never leave the house\u2019 and that they\u2019re homeschooled. He said he doesn\u2019t trust the world, like he\u2019s afraid, he said \u2018the world\u2019s crazy,\u201d the neighbor recalled of a conversation with the dad.<\/p>\n

The neighbor, who wished not to be identified, was shocked to hear that the twins had become malnourished, since he used to see the father bringing home \u201cbags of food.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another neighbor said that when the boys were younger, the dad would show her pictures of his sons and talk about how \u201cbright\u201d they were<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was so proud of them,\u201d she recalled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But at some point, the couple\u2019s dynamic soured, and the reportedly doting father no longer lived with Domenech and his children, the building\u2019s other residents observed.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd then everyone was worried about the kids not being taken out \u2026\u00a0She was bringing up the children,\u201d\u00a0 the neighbor said, adding that their mother seemed \u201ca little nutty.\u201d<\/p>\n
Domenech was arraigned Tuesday on charges of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child and offering a false instrument for filing, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n
Bronx Supreme Court Justice Audrey Stone ordered her held on $25,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis defendant is accused of a shocking, horrifying form of child abuse, allegedly depriving her sons of proper food, social interaction, education, medical attention,\u201d District Attorney Darcel Clark said in a statement. \u201cWe will do everything we can to help these boys attain a normal life.\u201d<\/p>\n
