{"id":534640,"date":"2026-01-22T13:18:15","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T13:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/534640\/"},"modified":"2026-01-22T13:18:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T13:18:15","slug":"cellphone-health-risks-are-focus-of-new-government-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/534640\/","title":{"rendered":"Cellphone health risks are focus of new government study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is launching <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/18\/us-news\/rfk-jr-calls-for-new-age-of-radical-transparency-at-hhs-tells-critics-they-can-retire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a study on whether radiation from cellphones could harm Americans\u2019 health<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FDA removed web pages with old conclusions about cellphone radiation while HHS undertakes a study on electromagnetic radiation and\u00a0health research\u00a0to identify gaps in knowledge, including on new technologies, to ensure safety and efficacy,\u201d HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon said in a statement to Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n<p>The study is part of a strategy report released last year by President\u00a0Donald Trump\u2019s MAHA Commission, Nixon added.<\/p>\n<p>The report urges officials to address electromagnetic radiation (EMR) exposure stemming from the widespread use of cellphones, Wi-Fi routers, cell towers and wearable, such as smartwatches.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the National Institutes of Health did a study concluding there is \u201cclear evidence\u201d that high exposure to radio frequency radiation (RFR) was associated with cancer in male rats.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is launching a study to determine whether cellphone radiation could harm Americans\u2019 health. Kennedy Jr. told\u00a0USA TODAY\u00a0on Friday that <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/07\/us-news\/rfk-jr-s-strange-ringtone-revealed-when-health-secretarys-phone-disrupts-white-house-briefing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201celectromagnetic radiation is a major health concern,\u201d<\/a> adding that he is \u201cvery concerned about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for CTIA, the mobile carrier industry trade group, told Fox News Digital there is no credible evidence linking wireless devices to\u00a0health problems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRadiofrequency energy from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, mobile phones and wireless infrastructure has not been shown to cause health problems, according to the consensus of the international scientific community and independent expert organizations around the world,\u201d said the spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStart your day with all you need to know\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMorning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0World Health Organization\u00a0has noted on its website that research shows \u201cno adverse health effect has been causally linked with exposure to wireless technologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the US, cellphones must comply with\u00a0Federal Communications Commission\u00a0(FCC) limits on radiofrequency (RF) exposure.<\/p>\n<p>The FCC uses a metric called specific absorption rate (SAR), which tracks how much RF energy the body absorbs. <\/p>\n<p>HHS Secretary Robert F.
