{"id":53555,"date":"2025-07-10T07:43:25","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T07:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/53555\/"},"modified":"2025-07-10T07:43:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T07:43:25","slug":"livvy-dunne-struck-out-in-bid-to-buy-babe-ruths-nyc-home-after-she-put-it-on-social-media-ticking-off-co-op-board-neighbor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/53555\/","title":{"rendered":"Livvy Dunne struck out in bid to buy Babe Ruth&#8217;s NYC home after she put it on social media, ticking off co-op board: neighbor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Livvy Dunne\u2019s no Babe.<\/p>\n<p>Olivia \u201cLivvy\u201d Dunne <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/09\/sports\/livvy-dunne-reveals-she-was-denied-purchasing-yankees-icon-babe-ruths-1-6m-nyc-apartment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">struck out in her bid<\/a> to buy Yankees\u2019 great Babe Ruth\u2019s former New York City home because the former LSU star gymnast overshared about the purchase on Instagram, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n<p>The co-op board in the Upper West Side building rejected Dunne\u2019s purchase \u2014 a $1.59 million, all-cash deal \u2014 days before she was going to collect the luxurious pad\u2019s keys, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model revealed Tuesday in a TikTok video titled, \u201cI\u2019m just disappointed that\u2019s all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Former LSU star gymnast Livvy Dunne took to social media to update her followers that she was rejected from buying Babe  Ruth\u2019s former New York City home. livvy\/Tiktok<\/p>\n<p>Dunne claimed to have \u201cno clue\u201d why she was rejected, but one resident in the West 88th Street building said the viral sensation was simply too online for the board\u2019s tastes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe messed up,\u201d the neighbor said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe board got pissed because she put it on her Instagram.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sure enough, Dunne <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DJUjAk5PtrH\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">shared a video<\/a> to her 5.4 million Instagram followers in May that showed her bikini-clad, skipping along a beach with a caption boasting: \u201cbought a nyc apt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The alleged overshare and grumpy co-op board vote now puts Ruth\u2019s historic pad \u2014 a seventh-floor, three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom pre-war residence at 345 W. 88th St \u2014 back on the market.<\/p>\n<p>Ruth, the legendary <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/03\/31\/real-estate\/babe-ruths-longtime-nyc-home-can-be-yours-for-1-59m\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cSultan of Swat\u201d lived on the property<\/a> with his late second wife, Claire Merritt Ruth, and their late adopted daughter Julia Ruth Stevens, from 1920 to 1940.<\/p>\n<p>The building even has a commemorative plaque honoring the New York Yankees great.<\/p>\n<p>The Post has learned that Dunne was rejected from buying the ex-Yankee great\u2019s former residence due to bragging about the purchase on Instagram. Gregory P. Mango<\/p>\n<p>On social media, Dunne still explains that she had no clue why she couldn\u2019t get approved to buy the home. CELESTE GODOY PHOTOGRAPHY<\/p>\n<p>Dunne, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/09\/13\/sports\/livvy-dunne-planning-next-steps-next-after-becoming-9-5-million-nil-legend\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">who made an estimated $9.5 million<\/a> through the \u201cname, image and likeness\u201d rules in the NCAA, entered the picture after the apartment went on the market in March.<\/p>\n<p>The building resident said they spotted Dunne and Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher and boyfriend Paul Skenes visiting the co-op in the run-up to the aborted sale \u2014 which the influencer said would be her \u201cfirst real estate purchase\u201d ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to admit, when I saw her from behind I didn\u2019t think she was an adult,\u201d the resident said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought she was a little boy. She\u2019s so little, like a child.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Things apparently went well enough that Dunne said she and Skenes even hired an interior designer to decorate the apartment.<\/p>\n<p>A neighbor says the social media star messed up and the co-op board was pissed when she shared the video on her Instagram acount. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt got to the point where the realtor was so confident, Paul and I went, I got an interior designer because I didn\u2019t want to bring my college furniture to Babe Ruth\u2019s apartment, that would be like, criminal,\u201d Dunne dished in her TikTok video.<\/p>\n<p>But the co-op board had other plans.<\/p>\n<p>Dunne said in her TikTok video that she learned the board denied her purchase, but she didn\u2019t know why other than it wasn\u2019t financial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt could have been, for all I know, they could have been Alabama fans and I went to LSU,\u201d Dunne quipped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe they didn\u2019t want a public figure living there,\u201d she said, inching closer to the purported truth, \u201cbut I was literally supposed to get the keys and that week they denied me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ruth lived at the apartment complex with his late second wife, Claire Merritt Ruth, and their late adopted daughter Julia Ruth Stevens, from 1920 to 1940. CELESTE GODOY PHOTOGRAPHY<\/p>\n<p>The seller\u2019s agent from Compass said they were \u201call shocked and displeased\u201d by the board\u2019s rejection, and tried unsuccessfully to get them to reconsider.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe managing agent got back to me days later and said the board decision was final and that was it,\u201d the seller\u2019s agent said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe seller\u2019s real estate attorney liquidated (Dunne\u2019s) deposit and that was it and we\u2019re back on the market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The board doesn\u2019t have to disclose why they turned Dunne down, the agent noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is New York City, this is co-op stuff,\u201d said another building resident who declined to give her name.<\/p>\n<p>The seller\u2019s agent was in shock when the co-op board rejected Dunne\u2019s purchase of the property. It happens all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One resident who only heard about the rejection from an online article from The Post was bummed to learn she was almost neighbors with the social media star.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish her well,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho knows why they rejected her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dunne summed up her misadventure with a warning to her eight million TikTok followers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLong story short: don\u2019t try to live in a co-op,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou might get denied and you won\u2019t get Babe Ruth\u2019s apartment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<script async src=\"\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Livvy Dunne\u2019s no Babe.
