Phoenix Police say they arrested a man they say was involved in dozens of thefts of power tools at Home Depot locations across the Valley.(azfamily)<\/p>\nPHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A Phoenix man linked to dozens of thefts at Home Depot locations across the Valley has been arrested, according to newly obtained court documents.<\/p>\n
Court records showed Chance Mason, 30, was identified as the suspect in a series of organized retail theft crimes that took place between December 2025 and January 2026.<\/p>\n

In the alleged thefts, Mason stole power tool sets and bypassed the self-checkout register as he ran out of the stores.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday afternoon, Mason allegedly attempted another theft at a Home Depot location near Tatum Boulevard and Bell Road in north Phoenix<\/a>. Store staff reportedly told investigators that they saw Mason take merchandise from the store and leave without paying.<\/p>\n Court papers said that while Mason was in the store, Home Depot staff remained in contact with Phoenix Police, describing the theft as it was happening. Employees also told Phoenix Police that Mason was involved in 40 thefts at different Home Depot locations across the Valley.<\/p>\n As Mason left, he was picked up by a white Honda Fit driven by a woman who authorities identified. Arizona\u2019s Family isn\u2019t naming the woman because it\u2019s unclear whether she\u2019s been arrested or is facing charges related to the crime spree.<\/p>\n With this information, officers began tracking the Honda as it entered the parking lot of another Home Depot located near Cactus and Cave Creek roads<\/a>. Mason entered the big-box store and took more merchandise, but this time, plain-clothes officers were watching his every move inside the store, court paperwork said.<\/p>\n As he attempted to leave the Home Depot with the unpaid merchandise, he was arrested. While investigating, officers spotted other Home Depot merchandise in plain view in the Honda Fit, court papers said.<\/p>\n After his arrest, Mason reportedly told officers he would sell the stolen tools to fund his drug addiction.<\/p>\n Mason was booked into the Maricopa County jail on a $25,000 bond.
