The reasons may surprise you"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OPINION \u2014 When people hear \u201cMen\u2019s Arts Council,\u201d it garners a wide array of reactions. Some people think we\u2019re a social club. Others assume we only support male artists and creators, or that the council is merely a hobby.<\/p>\n<p>As president of the Men\u2019s Arts Council, I assure you our mission goes much deeper. Men support art not only because of the social benefits, but also because it\u2019s essential \u2014 to community, to leadership and to the full expression of who we are. Our work funds exhibits and fosters art education at the Phoenix Art Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Art has always shaped societies. Long before cities were measured by GDP or skyline, they were defined by what they built, painted, performed and preserved. Supporting art is not passive appreciation, it is stewardship of culture.
