MINNEAPOLIS\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Federal immigration officers shot and killed a man Saturday in Minneapolis, drawing hundreds of protesters in a city already shaken by another fatal shooting weeks earlier.<\/p>\n

The details surrounding the shooting weren\u2019t immediately clear, but Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said the person was shot amid the Trump administration\u2019s immigration crackdown. A hospital record obtained by the Associated Press said that a man who was shot by immigration officers had died.<\/p>\n

Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin told the AP in a text message that the person had a firearm with two magazines and that the situation was \u201cevolving.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shooting happened amid widespread daily protests in the Twin Cities since the Jan. 7 shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, who was killed when an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer fired into her vehicle. Saturday\u2019s shooting unfolded just over a mile away from where Good was shot.<\/p>\n

After the shooting, an angry crowd gathered and screamed profanities at federal officers, calling them \u201ccowards\u201d and telling them to go home. One officer responded mockingly as he walked away, telling them: \u201cBoo hoo.\u201d Agents elsewhere shoved a yelling protester into a car.<\/p>\n

Protesters dragged garbage dumpsters from alleyways to block the streets, and people who gathered chanted, \u201cICE out now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re killing my neighbors!\u201d said Minneapolis resident Josh Koskie.<\/p>\n

Federal officers wielded batons and deployed flash-bang devices on the crowd.<\/p>\n

Walz, a Democrat, said in a social media post he had been in contact with the White House. He urged President Trump to end what the Department of Homeland Security has called its largest-ever immigration enforcement operation.<\/p>\n

\u201cPull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now,\u201d Walz said in a post on X.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened a day after thousands of demonstrators protesting the crackdown on immigrants crowded the city\u2019s streets in frigid weather, calling for federal law enforcement to leave. <\/p>\n
