The Pleasantville and Brothers actor reprises his iconic role as Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, in the Jon Watts-directed spectacle, alongside Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland as Spider-Men from other dimensions. No Way Home smashed box office expectations by earning $1.9 billion worldwide, making it the third-highest-grossing superhero film behind Avengers: Infinity War ($2B+) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.7B). With numbers like those, studio executives would likely want Maguire to suit up again for another Spidey sequel, with Sam Raimi in the director’s chair. However, it’s been years since No Way Home‘s release, and it doesn’t sound like Maguire or Raimi will return to the Spider-Man universe anytime soon. Speaking with Screen Rant, Sam Raimi said he’s done making Spider-Man movies and is okay with that.

Raimi shoots down hopes for Spider-Man 4

In an interview with Screen Rant‘s Ashley Crossan for his horror-thriller Send Help, Raimi touched on the likelihood of swinging alongside Maguire again for another Spider-Man movie. Unfortunately, for fans of the franchise, he says it’s not happening. While talking about the possibility of a Spider-Man 4, Raimi told Crossan that Maguire’s Spider-Man and Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson “have gone elsewhere,” as No Way Home ends with each Spider-Man going back to their respective universes off-screen.

Raimi urges fans to look forward to Spidey’s bright future

Raimi also notes that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man currently holds the spotlight. Fans want to know where Holland’s Peter Parker ends up after events in No Way Home erase a portion of his identity. Raimi told Crossan that it wouldn’t “be right for me to go back and try and resurrect my version of this story.” Raimi says he’s more than happy to pass the torch and is honored to have had the chance to play in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and to see Maguire’s Peter return in No Way Home. Raimi says he hasn’t spoken with any of the studios in charge of Spider-Man’s future about returning to direct Spider-Man 4. In other words, fans should look forward to Hollan portraying the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and see where the franchise goes from there. Brand New Day could introduce a live-action version of Miles Morales, who would then lead the franchise after Holland surrenders his web-slingers.

        Subscribe to our weekly newsletter

Get the latest movie and TV news, first looks, reviews, and interviews, straight from the JoBlo crew to your inbox.

Ever since Sony and Marvel released Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, fans of superhero cinema have wanted…

[28
171,53,32759,71091,238444,132427,116893,67,132,68
0":"post-540062","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-movies","8":"tag-entertainment","9":"tag-movies","10":"tag-sam-raimi","11":"tag-spider-man-4","12":"tag-spider-man-no-way-home","13":"tag-superhero","14":"tag-tobey-maguire","15":"tag-united-states","16":"tag-unitedstates","17":"tag-us
["GET
