But while Larson was excommunicated from NASCAR after just four races into the 2020 season, that didn\u2019t stop him from racing like he\u2019s never raced. The sprint car world, which he\u2019s been a part of for at least the last 15 years, welcomed him with open arms and Larson was virtually unstoppable. NASCAR be damned.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe literally gets in his bus, him and his family for the next four months, and wins every single race that there was,\u201d LaJoie said. \u201cThere\u2019s a sprint car race in Timbuktu, he shows up and wins that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t think the NASCAR world forgot about Larson during his absence. Tony Stewart wanted him for Stewart-Haas Racing. If that had happened, it may have saved SHR from folding after 2024.<\/p>\n
Flores said, \u201cEveryone was saying, \u2018He\u2019ll never get another ride. He\u2019s done. Who\u2019s going to take him on? Tony Stewart?\u2019 And then Rick Hendrick calls. He goes on to win 10 races and the championship.\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s one of the greatest comeback stories in NASCAR history. Or, as LaJoie said: \u201cThere\u2019s your Days of Thunder 2 plot line, ladies and gentlemen. There it is.\u201d<\/p>\n
Flores added, \u201cYou have the driver that\u2019s like super, just a race car driver, and then you have the real stiff engineer. Yeah, it\u2019s a great story. So I\u2019m sure it\u2019ll be something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
But what about Tom Cruise, the original Cole Trickle? He has to have a part in DOT2, right? \u201cNeeds to be,\u201d LaJoie said. \u201cBut how do you weave in Cole Trickle now? Does he own a bunch of used car dealerships and he\u2019s the one that owns this mega-team?\u201d<\/p>\n
