After snowy and icy roads<\/a> took over North Texas on Saturday, the region is heading into a snowier Sunday with showers starting in the morning.<\/p>\n

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to reach a high near 21 degrees with wind chill values between minus 4 and 6 degrees, according to the National Weather Service\u2019s Fort Worth office. <\/p>\n

Overnight temperatures were expected to drop to as low as 9 degrees with northwest wind gusts as high as 20 mph. There is a chance of snow showers before 9 a.m. and some after noon, the weather service\u2019s forecast said. <\/p>\n

On Saturday, the total overnight ice accumulation was predicted to be 0.1 of an inch, with snow and sleet accumulation of less than an inch. Sunday\u2019s snow and sleet accumulation is forecast to be less than half an inch. <\/p>\n

Dallas officials urged residents to stay off the roads, while homeless service agencies and the city opened a temporary warming shelter<\/a> at Fair Park,<\/a> which hosted about 800 guests on Friday night. <\/p>\n

Power outages<\/a> on Saturday impacted thousands of homes across North Texas. Flight cancellations at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field climbed to over 1,400 by Saturday night. <\/p>\n
