She also praises the nut’s mineral content for helping to maintain strong bones and its antioxidants for helping protect cells from oxidative stress and damage.

“Cashews also contain lutein, which contributes to eye and skin health,” say Christine Palumbo, a registered dietitian and nutrition expert based in Chicago.

“And cashews are a great substitute for many dairy-based sauces, making them popular in numerous vegan recipes,” adds Smith.

Is it OK to eat cashews every day?

Despite their many health advantages, cashews are best to enjoy in moderation because they are very calorie dense. “Cashews provide about 157 calories in one ounce, which is about 16-18 whole cashews,” says Palumbo. Another way of looking at it is that a single cup of whole cashews and halves contains nearly 800 calories. Because of this, Palumbo says, “portion control is key.”

Goodson agrees and also cautions that, as with other nuts, cashews can cause allergic reactions in some individuals. She also warns that they have “relatively high oxalate content, which can contribute to the formation of kidney stones in susceptible individuals.”

For anyone who doesn’t have allergies or hasn’t developed kidney stones in the past, however, “adding moderate amounts of cashews to your diet can be good for you,” says Smith. “But when choosing cashews, aim for raw options whenever available as roasted cashews often contain higher amounts of sodium or sugar.”

Main causes, treatments to food allergies More than 33 million people in the U.S. are affected by food…

[37
647,24320,931,40226,40225,40231,40221,40229,4060,990,33095,40228,16578,16581,210,40224,40230,425,993,6930,50,1182,40222,450,1457,1451,16577,21703,21712,40227,40232,646,67,132,68,1930,40223,3149
0":"post-54318","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nutrition","8":"tag-affiliate","9":"tag-allergies","10":"tag-and","11":"tag-audience","12":"tag-ccj","13":"tag-ccj-audience","14":"tag-edible","15":"tag-edible-nuts","16":"tag-experiment","17":"tag-food","18":"tag-food-allergies","19":"tag-foods","20":"tag-fruits","21":"tag-fruits-u0026-vegetables","22":"tag-health","23":"tag-high-protein","24":"tag-high-protein-recipes","25":"tag-local","26":"tag-local-affiliate-food","27":"tag-local-affiliate-health-and-wellness","28":"tag-news","29":"tag-nutrition","30":"tag-nuts","31":"tag-overall","32":"tag-overall-positive","33":"tag-positive","34":"tag-recipes","35":"tag-renews","36":"tag-renews-experiment","37":"tag-snack","38":"tag-snack-foods","39":"tag-u0026","40":"tag-united-states","41":"tag-unitedstates","42":"tag-us","43":"tag-vegetables","44":"tag-walnuts","45":"tag-wellness
["GET
