Co-founder Selim Adira, along with Emon Maasho, recently opened a brand-new foodie destination, but instead of another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/shopping\/best-candy-stores\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">candy shop<\/a>, this time they&#8217;ve debuted a Swedish <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/restaurants\/best-bakeries-in-nyc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bakery concept<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a bit of background, Adira and Maasho both have Swedish and Moroccan ancestry and used that heritage as the basis for their recent endeavor. Located in Brooklyn Heights, the new bakery opened in late spring and\u00a0serves a mixture of Scandinavian breads and pastries with an emphasis on East and North African flare.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>RECOMMENDED: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/news\/nycs-viral-swedish-candy-store-just-quietly-opened-a-new-spot-in-brooklyn-032624\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The BonBon candy store crew just quietly opened a new spot in Brooklyn<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Named for the Moroccan word for \u201ccommunity oven,\u201d Ferrane\u2019s menu features artisan bread and handmade pastries baked fresh daily. Made with Swedish-made Revent ovens, some of the popular items include a Swedish cinnamon bun called kanelbulle, prinsesst\u00e5rta (a.k.a.\u00a0princess cake), and a variety of Swedish bread scratch-made using custom-milled grain flours from Brooklyn Granary &amp; Mill. Built in 1895, the venue features the original marble floors and timeless ceiling moldings with an updated, intricately crafted ceiling from the Swedish design company BAUX.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t a walk-in-only bakery. With seating for up to eighteen, the bakery is a mix of old New York and European artistry, highlighted by handmade Swedish chairs and tables from Gemla and Mass Production. There\u2019s even a unique Danish \u201ccroissant\u201d sofa by design house Gubi. Everything was designed to create a calming, relaxing space to enjoy \u201cfika\u201d culture, also known as the Swedish equivalent of a coffee break.<\/p>\n<p>For summer, Ferrane is offering several seasonal specials, including sweet, indulgent Princess Cake soft serve, a boozy, mouthwatering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeout.com\/newyork\/news\/this-brooklyn-bar-turns-viral-dubai-chocolate-into-a-boozy-cocktail-061325\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dubai chocolate cocktail<\/a>, and a creamy, caffeinating affogato.
