A jewelry store in North Texas that dates back to the mid-1980s was hit with a burglary.<\/p>\n

Ylang 23, a known retailer in the community, endured the theft early Friday morning \u2014 and will likely suffer losses of well over $500,000, said Alysa Teichman, co-owner, in an interview. <\/p>\n

Amid the robbery, the thieves used a sledgehammer to crash through the glass and grab what they could, according to Teichman, snatching jewelry, some of the displays \u2014 and even a dish for Hershey\u2019s Kisses. <\/p>\n

The shop, which covers about 3,200 square feet, was robbed in less than four minutes. <\/p>\n

It was \u201csuch a brazen attack \u2026 with such violence,\u201d Teichman said. <\/p>\n

The suspects had fled the scene prior to officers\u2019 arrival, according to a report late last week by Highland Park DPS. Multiple display cases were shattered, leaving broken glass on the floor, the report said, and detectives confirmed that three masked and gloved suspects forcibly entered the store to commit this burglary.<\/p>\n

The business has insurance \u201cbut the net loss will be tremendous for my family,\u201d Alysa Teichman said.<\/p>\n

Ylang 23\u2019s store is relatively new in the company\u2019s long history, having opened on Oak Lawn Avenue around August 2024. Ylang 23\u2019s genesis dates back to about 1985 in Galleria Dallas, before it moved to Preston Center for about a decade. <\/p>\n

The company has attracted customers with its specialization in designer jewelry that has long been on \u201cthe forefront of trends,\u201d Teichman said. The offerings include necklaces, rings and bracelets.<\/p>\n

Amid the challenges, the store is set to officially reopen when the cases are fixed. It continues to provide online sales as well. <\/p>\n

During the robbery, which was caught on film by the store\u2019s cameras, the thieves \u201ctook stuff indiscriminately,\u201d Charles Teichman, co-owner, said. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever case they broke, they just grabbed whatever\u201d was there, Teichman said.<\/p>\n

Still, \u201cmost of the biggest pieces were in the safe,\u201d Alysa Teichman said. \u201cThey did not get to our safe.\u201d<\/p>\n
