The number of times we\u2019re reporting on local spots closing and out-of-town spots opening is way out of whack. <\/p>\n

Yesterday, we wrote about Palmer\u2019s Hot Chicken closing<\/a> and moving to a ghost kitchen concept. We wrote about Leila\u2019s Pizza closing, the PoBoy Shop in Preston Center, and New York Sub near SMU. Those are just this month. There\u2019s also a long list of restaurants and bars that closed in 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n

Yet Dallas is brimming with out-of-town all-jazz-hands spots. Delilah<\/a> is a clubstaurant opening next week; Little Ruby\u2019s from New York is also opening. Snarf\u2019s <\/a>from Colorado is opening three new stores. A San Francisco pizza spot<\/a> opened in Frisco last weekend. In the past year, Dallas has rolled out the red carpet for Avra, Prince Street Pizza, NADC Burger and more.<\/p>\n

And part of what makes Dallas a fun place to live (and report on food) is the thriving food scene. But our local restaurants are what give us a unique flavor, just too bad we can\u2019t all thrive. <\/p>\n

Dot\u2019s Hop House<\/a> was known for its spacious courtyard and abundant beer options (99-taps). There were also the duck-fat cheese fries and burgers. <\/p>\n

Deep Ellum, where Dot\u2019s is located, certainly has its own set of unique problems, from ongoing street construction<\/a> to a bit of summer-time chaos<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Dot\u2019s didn\u2019t offer details on why it\u2019s closing, only that it\u2019s been 10 years and their time in Deep Ellum is coming to an end. <\/p>\n

We have a few questions, like what will happen to the chandelier in the center of the courtyard, if they\u2019re going to open somewhere else, and what will happen to the grill they got from the old Club Schmitz. <\/p>\n

We\u2019ve reached out to Dot\u2019s and will update if we get answers. <\/p>\n

Until then, Dot\u2019s be open Wednesday, Jan. 28, through Sunday, Feb. 1.
