Ozzy Osbourne<\/a> gave it his all this past Saturday (July 5th) at the Back to the Beginning<\/a> concert, singing four Black Sabbath songs<\/a> and five of his own solo numbers<\/a> during his final show.<\/p>\n

Content creator and vocal coach Dimitris Barmpas has now shared Ozzy\u2019s isolated vocals from the rendition of the ballad \u201cMama, I\u2019m Coming Home,\u201d revealing an intense and heart-wrenching performance from the Prince of Darkness.<\/p>\n

Notably, the visibly emotional Ozzy\u2019s vocals are dry and mostly free of effects, as well as backing tracks, as mentioned in Barmpas\u2019 Instagram<\/a> post. It\u2019s pure Ozzy, and you can hear the breadth of his entire career in his voice, which is frail but unwavering, wearing the singer\u2019s many decades. It\u2019s totally honest \u2014 just like the Ozzman himself.<\/p>\n

The ballad was also undoubtedly the most difficult tune he sang that night, as his voice sounded stronger on the other solo and Sabbath numbers he performed. It\u2019s understandable, though, as the original vocals from \u201cMama, I\u2019m Coming Home\u201d are among the most technically impressive of Ozzy\u2019s entire career, not to mention the poignant nature of the lyrics.<\/p>\n

Barmpas\u2019 assessment summed it up nicely: \u201cThis isn\u2019t about pitch perfection. It\u2019s about presence. About the courage to say goodbye, in the only way a true legend can \u2014 with heart wide open.\u201d<\/p>\n

The massive farewell gig at Villa Park will stand as one of the greatest single events in metal history. In addition to Black Sabbath and Ozzy\u2019s performances, the rest of the bill featured an all-star cast of metal and hard rock talent, several of whom made Consequence\u2019s new list of the 75 Best Metal Albums of All-Time<\/a>.<\/p>\n
