\t\t\t\tIn a 5-1 vote, Cibolo City Council approved a $3.1 million contract with D&D Construction<\/a> for Fiscal Year 2025 Street Maintenance Package 2 on July 8<\/a> which will fund the reconstruction of Firebird Run, Silver Wing and Town Creek Road.<\/p>\n

Council member Norma Sanchez-Stephens was the lone dissenting vote.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s happening?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The three streets will be reconstructed using Fiscal Year 2025 <\/strong>Certificate of Obligation Bonds, according to agenda documents<\/a>. D&D Construction\u2019s bid came in over $600,000 than the next lowest bid for the project. Also bidding on the project were Bennett Paving<\/a>, E-Z Bel Construction<\/a>, J3 Company<\/a> and JP Paving.<\/p>\n

What the council is saying<\/strong><\/p>\n

Though voting to approve the project, council member Joel Hicks said there needed to be extra accountability with D&D, pointing out issues with the contractor on past projects such as work on Deer Creek Drainage and Dean Road.<\/p>\n

\u201cI [have] to question who\u2019s actually looking over these with a fine tooth comb. This body up here, we are the ones that are accountable to our citizens, being fiscally responsible with their taxpayer dollars,\u201d Hicks said.<\/p>\n

Next steps<\/strong><\/p>\n

Public Works Director Julio Gomez told Community Impact that construction will begin in mid-August and will take roughly nine months to complete, or in May 2026.<\/p>\n
