\n\tStephen Colbert<\/a> is sharing his thoughts as the end of The Late Show<\/a> revealed the date of the last show.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe CBS<\/a> late-night talk show is ending its run on Thursday, May 21, and while visiting Seth Meyers on Late Night, he weighed in on his sentiments over the show\u2019s finale.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt feels real now,\u201d Colbert told the former Saturday Night Live star. \u201cIt did not feel\u2026 I know it was real, but now, there\u2019s four months left.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColbert said that he loved making his show, but what he really enjoyed about The\u00a0Late Show\u00a0was his co-workers.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhat I really love is the people I do it with,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are people I\u2019ve been working with\u2026 My shoemaker, Tom Purcell, I\u2019ve known since 1988. And so, we\u2019ve all been together forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued, \u201cYou can do comedy a lot of different places. There\u2019s no place like the Ed Sullivan Theater, but it\u2019s really the people. That\u2019s really what I care about. That\u2019s really what I\u2019ll miss more than anything, and we\u2019ll do something else together, but it feels real now. I\u2019m not thrilled with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn July 2025, CBS confirmed it was ending the Late Show franchise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/a> will end its historic run in May 2026 at the end of the broadcast season,\u201d CBS said in a statement.\u00a0\u201cWe consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise at that time. We are proud that Stephen called CBS home. He and the broadcast will be remembered in the pantheon of greats that graced late night television.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe cancellation of the late-night show occurred amid Skydance\u2019s acquisition of Paramount and after Colbert called the CBS parent company, settling a lawsuit<\/a> with Donald Trump, a \u201cbig fat bribe<\/a>.\u201d The merger between Skydance and Paramount Global would close a month after it was confirmed the show was ending.<\/p>\n
