There\u2019s a large cohort of \u2018Slot out\u2019 Liverpool fans, but the club\u2019s hierarchy aren\u2019t in that camp. As for Xabi Alonso<\/a>, the stories might be wishful thinking more than fact. <\/p>\n

James Pearce contradicts Xabi Alonso reports and reveals Liverpool stance <\/p>\n

When it comes to insider knowledge at Liverpool, Pearce is usually bang-on with what FSG are thinking. <\/p>\n

He has responded to claims that Liverpool have contacted Alonso<\/a> over the role \u2014 a false assessment according to The Athletic\u2019s<\/a> main Liverpool correspondent. <\/p>\n

Pearce says: \u201cSo, yeah, I don\u2019t get the impression at the minute that despite the kind of all the noise and talk about reaching out to Alonso\u2019s people, which I\u2019m told is not true, I don\u2019t get the impression that the patience is wearing thin internally.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finding the truth in football can often be an unsavoury task, with even the most reputable of sources often contradicting one another. <\/p>\n

Pearce\u2019s take on the Alonso situation does, however, line up with the stance the club has been taking all season. <\/p>\n

That is, to stick it out with Slot and hope for a turnaround. <\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s last chance to go after Xabi Alonso <\/p>\n

As mentioned, there is a divide in the fanbase when it comes to the current manager. <\/p>\n

Slot doesn\u2019t help himself<\/a> sometimes, making claims that just rub fans the wrong way. He is a Premier League-winner, though, and there\u2019s every chance with the squad he has of making a deep run in Europe. <\/p>\n

If he were to make it all the way, it\u2019s hard to see Liverpool<\/a> pulling the plug in the summer. <\/p>\n

The problem with that \u2014 an unavoidable one \u2014 is that Alonso is possibly the hottest property on the manager market. He said he wanted a short break after Real Madrid, but it\u2019s hard to see him not being in a job next season. <\/p>\n

If Liverpool stick with Slot past the summer, it could be years before they have another chance to bring Alonso back to Anfield<\/a>. <\/p>\n

It all depends on how Liverpool perform between now and the end of the season, and more importantly, what they can achieve. <\/p>\n
