Each weekday, catch up on the 5 most pressing stories to start your morning in 3 minutes or less.  <\/p>\n<p>Southern California may be going through a <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/laist.com\/news\/climate-environment\/socal-heat-wave-forecast-la-oc\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mini heat wave<\/a>, but before seeking relief at the beach, beware. <\/p>\n<p>L.A. County public health officials are urging residents to avoid going in the water at seven local beaches after bacteria levels were found to exceed safe levels under state standards.<\/p>\n<p>Which beaches are under bacteria warnings?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solstice Creek at Dan Blocker County Beach in Malibu (100 yards up and down the coast from the creek).<\/li>\n<li>Walnut Creek at Paradise Cove in Malibu (100 yards up and down the coast from the creek).<\/li>\n<li>Ramirez Creek at Paradise Cove in Malibu (100 yards up and down the coast from the pier).<\/li>\n<li>The Bel Air Bay Club at Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades (100 yards up and down the coast from the club border fence).<\/li>\n<li>Mothers Beach in Marina Del Rey (entire swim area).<\/li>\n<li>Castlerock Storm Drain at Topanga County Beach in Malibu (100 yards up and down the coast from the storm drain).<\/li>\n<li>Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica (100 yards up and down the coast from the pier).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Is there a map of affected beaches?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, and it\u2019s available <a class=\"Link\" href=\"http:\/\/publichealth.lacounty.gov\/Beach\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>, by scrolling down to the map and zooming into the yellow place markers.<\/p>\n<p>Recorded information on beach conditions is also available by calling the county\u2019s beach hotline at (800) 525-5662.<\/p>\n<p>Where has a warning been lifted?<\/p>\n<p>A previous warning for Avalon Beach on Santa Catalina Island (50 feet west of the pier) was lifted after testing found bacteria to be back to safe levels.<\/p>\n<p>How to reach me<\/p>\n<ul class=\"InfoboxModule-items\">\n<li class=\"InfoboxModule-items-item\">\n<p><b>If you have a tip, you can reach me on Signal.
